Bled Castle: Slovenian charm

How to visit it?

Interior del castillo de Bled

Visit to Bled Castle

To get to the Castle there is a road that takes us to a parking lot near the building, and from which we can access the interior. From its walls the views are impressive, from above we will see the plenas, typical Slovenian boats, sailing until we reach the Island of the Assumption, crowned by the small church that bears the same name.

At the entrance to the Castle you must pay an entrance fee, and once inside you can visit a small museum that houses various rooms with the history of Bled and its surroundings, as well as seeing some demonstrations of the forging or printing workshops. In one of these rooms there is a reconstruction of the Guttemberg Printing Press, there we can see how it works, and if you want to engrave your name you can purchase it as a souvenir.

From the castle you can get privileged views of Lake Bled, as long as the sun peeks through the clouds, turning its waters into bluish tones.

Vistas del lago Bled

Visit to the lake

After a walk through the courtyard of the Fortress, we recommend returning to the shore of the lake, and boarding one of its "Pletnas", the boats can accommodate about ten people, so keep in mind that until you When it is full we will have to wait, we recommend not going up at lunch time, since there are not so many tourists and perhaps the wait will be long, however there is always another option, rent one of their boats and make the trip alone, rowing yourselves.

If you have chosen the first option, in about twenty minutes of crossing the lake you will already be on the island, once there you have half an hour to visit it. At the ticket office they sell a ticket that will give you access to visit the small museum, the Venetian tower and the church. Once inside the temple, it is a mandatory task to pull the heavy rope and ring the bells three times. Tradition says that while you do it You must make a wish that will surely come true. On the island there is a restaurant where you can buy some souvenirs as well as taste delicious desserts filled with a multitude of ingredients, each day they are different and freshly prepared.

Once we return to the shore, if you have time, we recommend walking along the entire shore of the lake, a walk of approximately an hour and a half. From its surroundings we will see the swimming pools suitable for children and adults in which in summer many people cool off. Without a doubt, the turquoise waters invite us to take a bath.

If you go to Bled in summer you can enjoy a very famous event in Bled, it takes place in mid-July, for some days the lake is covered with night lights and fireworks while numerous concerts liven up our evening.
